Busy as bees

A wonderful teacher named Jessica brought three owls to our class on Wednesday.  Jessica works at The Chewonki Foundation.  She taughts us about three owls found in Maine- the saw-whet, the barred and the great-horned owls.  We learned their bodies, adaptations they have, and how they survive in the wild- in Maine.  It was so cool to see real owls up close, listen to recordings of their calls, and touch samples of owl feathers, skulls and more.  Thank you, Jessica!

Why are we all so focused, quiet and attentive?  Well...

OWL visitors, that's why!!!

Check out his wingspan...

Why, hello there.

That wasn't the only exciting part of the day (how lucky are we?)  Today Mr. Barter invited us to the computer lab to make snow people and snowflakes.  It was really cool to do this work all by ourselves...

Happy Holidays! Love, Kindergarten

We learned about menorahs from Greta's mom.  The one on the left is new, the one on the right is very old.

The girls helped teach us, too!

Latkes, yum!
Maddie's mom read us lots of great stories, including A Christmas Carol

these little feet were our art supplies....

and these accessories helped...

Anouk;s mom was a great reader, and we learned some French words!

A brief update...

Things in Kindergarten have been so wonderful and time-consuming that I have been remiss in actually documenting it for the blog.  I forced myself to take a few shots with my phone today, for your viewing pleasure.  I look forward to seeing you all soon, and hope you holiday seasons are happily underway :)

making snowflakes (we glittered them later!) and showing our cutting and imagining skills

some snowflakes came out better than the teacher's :)

"We know ALL of these!"
