First full week

Well, we've finished the first full week of Kindergarten!  We have had a great time getting to know each other- what our names look and sound like, what we like to do for fun at choice time, what months our birthdays are in, and what our favorite snacks are.... and we know there is so much more to learn!

In Literacy, we are learning about the letters "Bb" and "Mm" and the sounds they make.  We each have our own book bins, and in them we each have a copy of "My Bb Book" and "My Mm Book" that we have learned to read.  They are pattern books with sight words we are working on.  Our book bins also have other books we can read to ourselves or read to a friend.  Next week will learn about the letters "Rr" and "Ss."  

In Math, we have gotten familiar with manipulatives we will be using throughout the year.  We do math during math time, but also during Morning Meeting, and we are wonderful counters, sorters,  and pattern-makers already!

In Social Studies, we are talking about the people in our school community.  It is really fun to walk around the school buildings, meet grown-ups and find out about their jobs at school.  We know that we all work together here.

We have amazing 3rd Grade Reading Buddies from Ms. Pickers class.  All year long they will be our buddies.  They read books to us, and are familiar faces in these very looooong hallways.

Oh yeah, we also have recess two or three times a day.  That, coupled with the dancing, jumping and yoga that we do keeps us limber for all this learning we are doing :)
